Submission Art Space 4/13/11

This is the first show in San Francisco I've shot for myself. Usually SFSTATION would help me get into some venues, but this one was all me. It was an amazing night of hardcore and pop punk. The event felt like I was back in Fresno taking photos at the Chinatown Youth Center.

Broadway Calls

One of the things I seem to forget while attending these shows is how intimate the crowd is. Everybody sings along and enjoys themselves. Most of the shows in San Francisco don't seem to have that connection with other people. This is what I miss the most about going to shows.

As for the performances:

Heartsounds: I'm still in awe on how good they are as songwriters. They played a solid set that included songs such as "Slave to a Heart That Strays" and "I Climbed for Miles." I love seeing this band play and it's always an impressive performance

Comadre: This was different for me. One of my favorite bands was on stage rather than on the floor. I was iffy about it at first, but when they opened with "Burn the Scene" it took it to a different level. Man it was nuts! Crowd went wild!

Broadway Calls: All the kids sang along, fist pumped, and had a blast!! I can't even describe how amazing they are as performers, let alone as individuals. This is a band you can't miss live!

So, there you have it. All that in one night. I do it again tonight photographing FOALS at the Great American Music Hall. It's going to be a busy week, but this is what I strive for!
