Passing

For the last few weeks of the year I decided to celebrate Christmas and New Years with my girlfriend. I've been doing a lot of sleeping, thinking, tea drinking, and idea composing. I've been searching for new music. I've been pumped to make new music. I'm pumped to create new projects. It's hard to stay motivated especially when you have a lot of things going on in your life. The first day of the year will embark in a new journey. Not only will I work harder, but will shoot more, find more opportunities for work and really eat, sleep and breath photography. 2012 is a year that needs to be the year I become a REAL photographer.

Though I haven't done much since I've been in the east coast I've taken the time to work on a couple of things. 2012 will be the year I start presenting my portfolios to galleries and maybe some agencies? Who knows, but at this time I'm keeping myself relaxed until I start working again. These pictures above sort of explain what my view has been like. It's clear, open, painted with a color of beautiful light. I can't even begin to explain the beauty east coast has with light. No wonder Joel Meyerowitz's pictures looked so good. The New Year is almost here.... get ready..

Airport Life (Part 1 of the Final Moments of 2011)

Tuesday, December 20, 2011

Airports seem to be the most diverse and emotional places on earth. Think about it. Leaving loved ones, starting out fresh, moving to a new place, or maybe even running away from problems. I like to observe these people as they try to occupy themselves with books, laptops, games, or sleep. The thought that they are distracting themselves from a motive, a problem, a new journey.. it's frightening, heartbreaking, and maybe in some cases exciting. These places can show all signs of emotion. I know that you could find this type of thing anywhere, but I feel that the airport intensifies these expressions. The person is "leaving" something behind. It's positive. It's negative. It's an interesting place.

If you noticed I don't have my logo mounted on my images. Well... I'm editing everything on Adobe Lightroom on my crappy Toshiba Laptop. This is the only way I can update my blog for the last two weeks of the year. I've also got tired of seeing that logo on ALL my images. All the metadata is engraved in the image so I'm okay in the copyright department. If anything all my images are set to 72dpi so it's almost impossible to get a good print out of these images. Besides... I'm trying to get a new logo up anyway. Stay tuned.

Self Portrait (Circa 09?)

I finally finished the majority of images I've taken this year. I developed two bodies of work at the same time. The work took hours and hours of editing. I wasn't so sure if I was able to finish it, but I managed to pull through. The first portion of the year dealt with much of the digital realm. As I started getting comfortable shooting in public I started to realize that my presence was too noticeable to capture shots. I then picked up a cheap rangefinder that would allow me to maneuver and take closer looks at achieving a better shot. I then started getting influenced on shooting with a flash and my presence is now in the open once again. My mind set has circulated through these different ideas so much I've exhausted it. I had to pull back and just observe than to just compulsively hit the shutter. You are looking at some examples of work that I've done over the year.

These images are the sprinkle of what I have gathered over the countless months, weeks and days shooting to school, at home, going to work, with friends, etc. By next month I should have an online portfolio active. This will showcase much of the work I've done. My main portfolios are finished, but there are a few I am considered to put in the fold. I'm excited about how these images turned out. Hopefully later I'll be able to showcase this work to an audience. Till then enjoy!

Dead to Me Record Release

Dead to Me Record Release

Dead to Me Record Release Party. Great night of music that included Atlas, Shotwell, and Comadre. I forgot about the energy people bring to shows. They make the experience so much better.

I miss photographing bands. I've shot a good amount of shows when I used to intern at SFSTATION, but they weren't as good as the local punk shows. There are more images on my Flickr that you should check out. Awesome night!
