This week I will be installing my newest work on the walls of the MAC650 Gallery. I hope you all can make it and celebrate with us on the 8th of August. The exhibition should be open to the public on July 31st, so, before the event you can take a sneak peak before shit goes down. I will be instagraming some stuff this week and next week as I am slightly taking another break from showing any kind of work that I've been editing over the past few months. I just got a bunch of rolls back from the lab and am scanning them as we speak. See you guys there!

I Make Faces With my Face / San Francisco, Ca / 2012

This party was done awhile back months before heading here to Connecticut with my now wife. As an outsider of the group I was able to witness some of the clicks that group up in certain corners of the room. Fuckers drank their asses off. You had them saying weird shit you wouldn't believe. Me, however, find it intriguing being able to see the damage being done. Hilarious shit.

Take me to the Floor / Hartford, Ct / 2013

Taking pictures at parties was a starting point for me as I admired certain photographers in my hometown that took pictures at night of their friends. It was quite interesting considering how crazy the parties would get. But as I grew older the pictures started to shift when photographing these kinds of events. It's exciting and sad at the same time. You can see every emotion go down in one night. I hope to do more of these someday, but for now I'm just gonna stick to the ones that I had taken these past few years.

Next week I'll be posting up some new work at the MAC 650 gallery here in Middletown, Ct. This will be my second time showing work at this gallery among the friends that I've made from last year. I'm pretty stoked about this whole thing and hope the people get into it. We may be adding more work after installing the pieces. The reception will be on the 8th, but will be open to the public from the 31st of July to August 12th. Hope to see you guys there!

Farm Directions / Glastonbury, Ct / May 2013

Around this time I was unemployed with too much time in my hands, so, certain friends showed me some of these small excursions that I found pretty damn wonderful. We walked around this small neighborhood in South Glastonbury which was near the ferry dock. I happened to catch this sign and was shocked. Yeah.. I mean I'm pretty lame for feeling "shocked" by it, but what kind of person would put "whoa" in a shape of a stop sign? I probably would though.

Flowers and Gunshot Wounds / New Britain - Middletown, Ct / 2013

As more of these images are being edited and waiting for it to arrive on the blog I'm noticing a lot of changes in my shooting and how I process an image. Today was no exception as I realize the majority of work I've been collecting have been still life images. But as I love to compare images together to see some sort of relationship I see how I'm thinking about these pictures that are being taken from previous pictures I've already processed. These images are merely moments when you have a camera and you find things that look interesting. I'm finding a lot of things in this place that many people are sleeping on.

I'LL JUST EAT THIS SANDWICH THAT I BOUGHT FOR $7.99 PLUS TAX

Las Vegas Airport / Las Vegas, NV / December 2013

Seriously though.. some of these sandwiches are that price and I leave feeling half full more than anything. Oh well. It wasn't me who ate it though. It was that guy sitting on the standing table gobbling it down like it was his last meal and stuff.

IF IT WASN'T HARD ENOUGH

Thursday, July 10, 2014

As I write this my thoughts start to envision a future of art and how I could be part of it. The skill sets that I've acquired almost seem useless while the upcoming generation learns the ins and outs to make it into the industry. And I begin to trail down and notice more and more of these individuals making it into these industries. They're happy and stressed out, but they make the front page or become a trend in the web. They work hard and wear their luck around their ankles and knees. They've almost dismantled every limb of their body to get there.

And here I am.... sort of waiting.

Earlier this week I was emotional. I juggled the idea of whether doing all this was worth it. I'm broke all the time, but I manage to scrounge up $11 just buy 200 asa film that lasts for a week. I don't desire to shoot digital pictures as it loses the integrity of how I feel about photography. I wake up at 3:30 in the morning to edit for an hour and a half and proceed to get ready to work for people that don't know what they're doing. The scary thing is I feel as if this job is my last stop.

Can it be worth it? Can it be something that I could stick around for years on end? How does one realize the craft that they create would only matter by the creator who made it? I think about how transparent I am to the world and the worth I bring to the planet. Am I making a difference? Has anyone seen what I've done and feel the way I feel? As structured as I am now I continue to make a mess.

It's awful to compare myself to the likes of those who are out there doing what it takes to succeed. Problem is I feel like I'm not doing that and all of what I've worked on has been completely useless.

I know it may seem odd for me to vent out these kinds of things, but if it wasn't hard enough from the start I wonder what it'll be like in the next few years. I guess we'll have to see.

Boat Riders / Davao, Mindinao, P.I. / January 2014

Before we hit the boat to do some island hopping I was able to witness some activity around the docks. Most filipinos set themselves at these places to sell a bunch of plastic crap to make ends meet at the end of the day. They'll bug you if you don't give them an answer. It's pretty annoying, but it is what it is.

Pinoy Households / Tagum, Mindanao, P.I. / January 2014

Earlier this year I got the chance to get married in the Philippines. I was fortunate enough to bring my medium format to record some of the experiences. If I could back and do it again I definitely would. There's so much to capture. I just hope one day I could go back and photograph it again. I have some business to take care of.

I'LL SEE YOU WHEN WE'RE BOTH NOT SO EMOTIONAL

Friday, July 4, 2014

Happy 4th everyone. Thought I'd like to post something "American" for you. And.. well... American Football came to mind. Just recently Chris Strong (who is also noted to photograph some of the Polyvinyl Records Artists at one point) shot the video for this old song. He also photographed the whole American Football self titled album as well. Give it a look. This is probably one of the most referenced bands in the emo underground.

VIDEO GAME CHARITIES

Wednesday, July 2, 2014

Just last year I started getting into this whole "speedrun" thing when it showed up on the front page of youtube. I was sort of intrigued by this. I didn't know what to expect when I first opened up one these videos, but what got was a lot of information of the games mechanics. Runners find themselves looking for specific frames that can make the games act differently. It could be clipping on a wall, precise maneuvers on platforms, or even falling in a simple hole that could take you to the end of the game. Better yet they hold these events called "Games Done Quick" for the winter and summer periods to help raise money for charities. Sunday was the last day, but I'm sure you could watch some of the footage on youtube. Thank you guys for doing this. It's pretty cool.
