Not Bad At All / ?, RI / June 13, 2015

Over the last few summers I haven't taken advantage of the outdoor activities that goes on. I've been so jaded about it since I have to work most of the time. As a kid you wouldn't really think about these kinds of things. I mean the beach was always my go-to back living in California. I was always mesmerized by the people there and the active nature. Now that I don't live near any waters it kinda sucks. But whatever I guess. It looks like another summer will pass me by.

Don't Forget the Lotion / Lowell, Ma / June 14, 2015

It's good to be back on the fold. Though I looked through some past work these last few days I think that I'm ready to show you some of the new stuff I've been allocating.

Anyway, so this time of the year I've been noticing that my images are either far away or up close. Up into this point I was still working on figuring out my sweet spot of this camera. Even to this day I still have some trouble figuring out what would work best for me. Aside from that I loved the colors on this image. It made me think of Eggleston. And lately that's how my photography has been handled. More color, less concept? I don't know.

UNDER DEEP WATERS

Friday, June 24, 2016

As of late I’ve been directing my attention on music more than taking pictures. I’m not sure if this is a sign, but I’ve always had points of the year where I need to take a break.

However this break seems to be longer than usual. There’s quite a batch of rolls that need to be developed, loads of digital images that need to be looked at, and scans that I had barely cleaned up on Photoshop. I’m so backed up on work that I’ve let it pile up. It’s not like me to do this. I usually have these things organized and fixed up.

Awhile ago I came to realize that I’ve been trying to force a body of work that I know wouldn't go anywhere. Loads of ideas have come into mind, but have either quickly (or slowly) dived in deep water where it would just stay at the bottom of the ocean for a long time. I'm beginning to think that this feeling and perspective of letting my work just stay in the bottom would allow me to retrieve it when I'm ready to swim in a deep surface.

I think I feel okay just leaving photography alone for a bit. Next week I'll have some images ready. But for now I'll take the last few days to clear my head of what I want to do with my work.

OUT FOR A WEEK OR TWO

Monday, June 13, 2016

A video posted by Art Bueno (@buenopower) on

So I decided that I need to take a break from this blog. It might be a week or two that I want to get myself gathered up and such, but just think of it like I'm on vacation or something. Trust me.. it's not going to be for a long time. Although for the last few weeks I've been caught up on making music than making photographs. I think I found the sound I've been wanting to pursue that may even help deploy a new body of work to exhibit. This blog deserves good content every post and I think that I've been neglecting that.

See you in a bit..

It's Not Monday Yet Right? / Middletown, Ct / August 29th, 2016

Again... blankets seem to just take shape in such an interesting way. I kind of see like a landscape on these photos. Maybe that's probably why I like taking them.

STILL IN BED

Monday, June 6, 2016

Maybe At 2 I'll Get Up / Middletown, Ct / August 29th, 2016

I photograph this bed a lot at one point of the year. The curves, the color, the types of shapes it takes... it has a personality of its own. This part of the year had helped me understand that I liked doing still life work. It was actually my first direction of photography when I started. I may want to run the idea of doing a series of my bed. Hmm...
