Street Modeling

It amazes me how well she can combine certain parts of clothing into great outfits. She really pays attention to detail down to the shoes. Great preview from the closet of treasure.

Saw this elderly man pass by and I had to take a photo of him. I love the way the elderly dress up. Clean cut, presentable, and stern. Simple and to the point.

So, it's starting to lighten up here in the city. People are dressing a little more casual since the weather has been warming up. I haven't focused on doing much street modeling these days since the transitions have been a bit weird as of late. Now that the city is being exposed to more light, it's time to kick this into gear start finding some more of these portraits.

On another note... it's been a crazy few days. Last Saturday I took the position as second photographer for Kaboo Vang. This was the first time I was able to experience a real wedding. Tomorrow I will be shooting a private event at the MaxMara store in the city. Expect much updates in the coming weeks.

Foals

Tuesday, April 19, 2011

About a couple of nights ago I photographed the band FOALS at the Great American Music Hall. I thought this would be a good opportunity to capture to some great moments, but unfortunately I had a couple problems with the shoot. For one, I was only able to photograph through three songs. This wasn't normal for a Great American Music Hall show I've ever attended, but this is what they wanted. Second, the lighting was just awful. I couldn't use my flash unit, the lights were dim, and there was no photo pit. Talk about a crappy situation.

So, I photographed this show to the best of my abilities. The night was a disaster, but I did what I could to capture the essence that is FOALS.

Bladimir

He's been appearing on my blog frequently. He's always available for shoots and is a handsome lookin' fellah. This is the first attempt at post processing an image of this style. The "grunge" look as they call it has been a prominent style of processing among the photographers here at AAU. I like it a lot, but I know I won't be doing to every photograph I produce. Let me know what you think.

I caught these ladies walking around Chinatown. They caught my eye while I was heading toward my favorite tea shop.

Submission Art Space 4/13/11

This is the first show in San Francisco I've shot for myself. Usually SFSTATION would help me get into some venues, but this one was all me. It was an amazing night of hardcore and pop punk. The event felt like I was back in Fresno taking photos at the Chinatown Youth Center.

Broadway Calls

One of the things I seem to forget while attending these shows is how intimate the crowd is. Everybody sings along and enjoys themselves. Most of the shows in San Francisco don't seem to have that connection with other people. This is what I miss the most about going to shows.

As for the performances:

Heartsounds: I'm still in awe on how good they are as songwriters. They played a solid set that included songs such as "Slave to a Heart That Strays" and "I Climbed for Miles." I love seeing this band play and it's always an impressive performance

Comadre: This was different for me. One of my favorite bands was on stage rather than on the floor. I was iffy about it at first, but when they opened with "Burn the Scene" it took it to a different level. Man it was nuts! Crowd went wild!

Broadway Calls: All the kids sang along, fist pumped, and had a blast!! I can't even describe how amazing they are as performers, let alone as individuals. This is a band you can't miss live!

So, there you have it. All that in one night. I do it again tonight photographing FOALS at the Great American Music Hall. It's going to be a busy week, but this is what I strive for!

Street Modeling

The combination of colors seems to fit very well. You definitely see a good blend with the salmon and blue colors. This is just a small example of the other clothes she has locked in her closet. Donna has great taste so expect more of her collections to appear on this blog.

About a week ago I found these individuals in the street strutting their stuff. Very calm, cool, collective, and confident. The transitions are being made slowly, so expect more sweater/jacket like clothes in the upcoming posts.

Zhuo Liu

Art Direction and Lighting by Bladimir Munoz

Another collaboration with Bladimir for MoveRadio.com. It didn't take long to get what we needed. We had a blast!

Some of Bladimir's ideas really stuck through what I wanted during the shoot. I definitely need to incorporate a directive approach into my photoshoots since I'm more candid than conceptual. I usually let the people do their own thing and make them feel comfortable. This was a great experience and will definitely use this on my upcoming photoshoots.

Maya

Art Direction and Lighting by Bladimir Munoz

Last week I was compiling a bunch of images for the company I am working for, Move Radio and had Bladimir help me out with a good portion of the shoot. It was fun and it was the first time I was able to use my apartment as a studio. Maya Ma Ya was a great model to work with. She currently is a fashion designer at our school.

After this shoot I started thinking about the body of work I am currently compiling. There are barely any studio shoots I like and because of this, I hope to have the opportunity to photograph more portraits such as these. I enjoyed it very much and will start thinking about shoots like these in the near future.

Street Modelin'

I'm going to miss the Winter time believe it or not. I've been very impressed with the people's wear this season. Spring has just started (and pretty late too) so I'm expecting less coats and thinner fabric. I hope to see some interesting color schemes coming from the city.

Honestly, my favorite out of this set is the 2nd photo above. I like how the color schemes blend well with her outfit and her skin. I took this while I was heading toward the Moscone Center to photograph the Wondercon event. Also, the individuals have nice hats on. Even the 1st photo above, the color blended well with the blue and black striped shirt. Great combinations people. Keep it going!

Wondercon

It was a good Friday. Wondercon was fun and I had never been in a convention that huge. I recognized most of the characters that dressed up, but didn't really recognize the artists on some of the display tables. These characters played their part well.

The people made it happen. I stayed for a couple of hours to capture everything, but more kept coming in. It was a different experience outside the events I usually photograph. Great times and hopefully I can go for the whole weekend next time. More can be viewed here. Enjoy.
