CAUSE I WAS ALWAYS IN OUTER SPACE

Alejandra Bayardo / San Francisco, Ca / 2011

She was one of those daydreamers. Even when you were talking to her you could tell she was trying to multitask a conversation with whatever thing she was thinking about. But she was a good fellow who wanted to follow her dreams. During my time in the Bay Area we hung out from time to time to catch up on things. This was her eating a sandwich with me at the Working Girls Cafe. I wonder what's been going on with her these days.

DON'T KNOW / DON'T CARE

Cheyenne / Hartford, Ct / Fall 2013

This was an outtake that was taken for the VRTU lookbook I did last year. Seems like the dude lost interest in doing clothing since I haven't spoken to him for months. Anyway, I'm probably going to call this girl again to see if she knows anyone who is down to take portraits. She was a great subject for this shoot and hope to work with her again someday.

TAKING A WEEK BREAK

Monday, April 21, 2014

Untitled

From the day I came back from the P.I. I've been constantly posting images that I've been fixing up. I think I need a break and some time to reflect on things. As of late I've been burnt out on everything. And since my data crunching job has me going nuts I'm trying not forget why I am here in the first place. I'm noticing changes in my mood, desire of intimacy, and concentration for my love of art tumbling away. This isn't what I want my life to head to. Being 28 has it's weirds and I think I'm now experiencing this. And lately I've been afraid of where my life will go at this point.

People have given me the confidence to reach higher than the expected bar I seem to set for myself. This momentum would gain speed, but at times I'd have to go into a complete stop for no apparent reason. I'm scared. I'm scared of where my life will head and I feel like I'm missing opportunities everyday.

So, for a whole week I'm going to forget about photography and figure out many things. I'm not sure what will happen this coming weekend, but I hope to come back with a fresh mind. I'll see you guys next week.

Me and a Clown / San Francisco, Ca / 2012

These were taken for Location Lighting Class I took awhile back. Gave me more of a perspective as to how I look at light now. I don't know why I thought these pictures were good enough for a post, but surfing through these images made me feel a bit nostalgic. It was an interesting year that year.

Raina Boyle / Middletown, Ct / 2012
Raina is one of those individuals who is pretty much absent from everything when the semester begins. These shots were taken for a documentary class I was in before graduating. She was an interesting subject to photograph as I was able to just be a fly in the wall and let her be the way she is. She was so focused and not aware other than the work she was studying for. It was quiet and interesting as she was so engaged. I know how you feel dude.

Magali Duzant / New York, Ny / 2012

I'm pretty sure I've posted these pics of Magali awhile back, but I've been checking her progress and the things she does are just too good. I'm a big fan of her work and from the day I've learned who she was and what she was capable of I knew that she's the type to get far with her art. Cheers Magali. I miss you friend.

IT'S ROUGH OUT THERE: MYSTIC PART II

Mystic / Mystic, Ct / March 2013
So, the part I love about this place when doing the project was the fact that I had a lot of freedom to walk around. There were moments I could take my time and just visualize a picture. Let the environment just soak in smoothly. I was packing an Olympus OMPC with a 50mm 1.8. This isn't my usual focal length, but it did me good allowing me to take pictures at a certain distance without any problem. But a lot of it was bird watching. It was bird watching in a space that was empty most of the time. I think I'm going to go back and find out if I could get more images here. Till then expect more posts of Mystic.

I'M AWARE SOMETHING IS MISSING: MYSTIC PART I

Mystic / Mystic, Ct / March 2013

This was a small documentary project I did for my Photo Essay class at AAU. Most of the images I took in this set were basically pictures of quiet. The whole town was seriously deserted. You would think when Julia Roberts did that role in Mystic Pizza that it would be the main attraction... well.. not so much. The place is nice, but it's too quiet. Really bizarre in my book. But these pictures are a small part of what I captured during the project. I'll be posting more of these in the coming week.

THE LEGEND WILL NEVER DIE

Myung Kim / San Mateo, Ca / April 2012

Myung Kim was the owner of one of the few arcades that existed in the Bay Area. Being a fan of the local fighting game community my younger brother, Eldon, introduced me to such a place and immediately was in awe. Arcades have a special place in my heart since I spent a majority of my childhood there. Since then I began playing games again and dipping my feet in the water of the new stuff that's been coming out. But not to go back into nostalgia train I wanted to post this because 1) Gamecenter recently shut its doors for good & 2) gave me the realization that Arcades are soon dying. Gamecenter was one of the places that hung on to the tradition, but provided the community tournament opportunities, live streaming, and any other gaming activities. I will try to interview Myung Kim regarding his future plans, but until then this is something that I hope we can hang on. Keep Arcades alive people!

I THINK IT'S GOING TO BE A GOOD DAY

Different People / San Francisco, Ca / 2011

I don't remember blogging these images, but they were candidates for the Moments in the Same Place project that I had released a few years ago. I've neglected posting these images for the longest time, but up until now some of these images are starting to grow on me again. I've started remembering most of what I witness those years being in the Bay Area. It wasn't easy nor hard to find these things. The city was just full of surprises. I miss it a lot, but I think my time there was past due. It was good while it lasted.

Voyeur of the Night / San Francisco, Ca / February 2012

I've been backlogging a lot of the work I've never got around to edit these past few days. Since the weather hasn't had a consistent condition I've been stuck inside most days looking at images that were potential posts that never made it to the blog. And most of these images didn't really have any direction. They were just shots of things that were meaningless. These images date back about 2 years ago when I had the opportunity to photograph in more of an aggressive way. Using flash I was able to get certain reactions that I don't normally get. It was fun while it lasted as my direction in photography had changed drastically. I would hope to do this again, but with more control. It just seemed as though most of these images were in a bit of turbulence.
