This is a project I've been wanting to release for the past few weeks. It's been something I've been interested in doing for awhile and have now gathered the guts to release it. It's a start to recognize typography in relationship with photographs. Well.... here it is... enjoy.

From what I understand they will be doing a monthly subscription of this featuring artist from the crew and special guests. I actually just saw their online shop and this issue is SOLD OUT. If you didn't grab one you're screwed.

Love Lost But Not Forgotten

Colby & Stephanie / Metal Mansion, Fresno, Ca / Spring 2007

I've debated on posting this online for awhile, but today seemed like an appropriate day to do it. I've known these two since the beginning of my photography career and were interesting subjects to photograph. Sadly this relationship broke up about 2 years ago. From the many days and nights of hanging out this is what they looked like. Quiet and to themselves. Looking back it reminded me of the relationships I dealt with. I remembered what it was like to not know if I was in love.

Happy Valentines Day Colby and Stephanie. I'm sure you guys are happier now than before.

Portfolio Review Submissions - New York Portfolio Review

Screen shot 2013-02-13 at 11.59.25 PM

I just recently submitted to this... actually I just submitted about a few minutes ago. The deadline is 11:59pm tonight and I submitted at 11:50. I'm such a procrastinator. Even my Fiance tells me so. I figured it'd give it a shot and not even think about it. What do I got to lose right?

Eh... I actually saw the final pics for Chrome's Streets of Chrome content on their Facebook profile. What's irritating about the images I saw is the fact that they weren't very good. Goes to show how saturated and shitty street photography has come to these days. I know I'm complaining, but that's just me.

In the Works: In Bloom - So Soon

I've been debating on doing something like this for a couple of years now. Throughout the time of being a photographer I've always stressed on promoting work of others as well as myself. And what better way of doing it by creating an online mag of people that I connect with photographically. Next Friday will be the release of my new installation of this blog. A quarterly online magazine paying tribute to the people that I respect. Titled In Bloom - So Soon this first issue is a presentation of how we view the imagery of flowers, its concept, and what we look for through these compositions. Stay tuned folks!!!

"I Hate Your Art" - A Post by Dayv Mattt

Subject: Pathetic

Dayv,

I’ve followed you for about four or five months, and I can’t even begin to tell you how funny it’s been. To even use the word photography when looking at your “photography” does the entire photography world an injustice. You’re a hack, and your shit is pathetic. I’ve since unfollowed you because the novelty has worn off, and I started feeling sorry for you. If I thought asking you to attend my photography lectures would help, I would, but from what I have read in your interviews, you’re hopeless and I truly am sorry that you have no hope to amounting to anything in the photography world.

Incidentally, I know I will because I have money and my parents have friends and well…shit just works out for me. So keep dreaming the dream and maybe one day I’ll buy your ridiculous book because I know it’ll get your hopes up and then soon after reality will kick in and I’ll know I helped sink you that much further into hell.

I hate your art.

So I've read this a couple of times. I don't know if this person is straight up trolling or not, but by looking at this it seemed pretty genuine to me. Criticism has an awful side sometimes and for many artists it has affected them positively or negatively. For most of us the criticism has given us a negative outlook toward how we approach our work. It becomes stale and its passion fades away. To others it was a way to prove the critics wrong and make them feel stupid. All in all the person emailing Dayv truly hated him just because he didn't like his persona and the art it relates it with. This guy is probably a pure fuck waving his money at people. Maybe his parents give him too much praise because he has cute stick figure drawings of his family. Have fun in the art world whoever you are because I'm pretty sure you're not going to last.
