I've been getting into more still life photography. Not sure why, but something about this aspect of photography is very poetic and beautiful. To tell you the truth this is how I started photography. I wanted to be a fine art photographer, but it was too slow for me. Up until now I was more interested in capturing life candidly. I'm now trying to broaden my horizons. We'll see how long this goes.

I'm not one to do much still life photography, but I started finding some interest since I've seen some posts about it on my Tumblr dashboard. Not many people realize how difficult this style of photography can be. Composition is everything, balance, texture, the lines, shapes... it's these different characteristics that many still life photographers keep in mind. My favorite still life photographer is still Andre Kertesz. He was one of few photographers that understood lighting and composition in such a poetic way.

I met up with Rolo Tanedo in the morning and Theo Slavin in the afternoon. Editing has been a prime factor these days. I haven't been shooting as much since this exhibition is around the corner and the submission for the AAU Spring Show is about 2 weeks. So I've been stressing more about this than anything.

The other day I had to do my midterm by photographing a prop our instructor had given us. I'm not big into doing setups and such, but I do know that if it calls for it I'm going to do it. The location was at Bladimir's house inside his bathroom. We only setup one light bouncing off the wall to just light everything in the room. Tyler is such a trooper. Thanks dude... you look hott!

The transition of being wet from rain to cloudy skies felt nice. I had go back to my hometown to pick up my truck. I don't know if I had mentioned this, but my truck was in critical condition for awhile. I took it to an auto body shop that would fine tune it. When I picked it up the truck sounded soo good! I drove around, kicked it with Oliver, and took pictures. It was a great day. Fresno... give me a good weekend!

School has been too crazy for me and trying to make time to shoot between classes and assignments have been nearly impossible. It'll get better later this week though. Michael Behlen wanted us to do something a little different this time. In this challenge the theme was to shoot Fashion at night. It was required to use some sort of strobe or speedlite to complete the challenge. Now.. I for one am not good at fashion, but I am a pretty big fan of it. So... I asked a friend of mine, Kelly Keltos to model for me for this shoot.

STREETS / EXHIBITION

Finally. An exhibition I've been waiting for since I've lived here in the Bay. We decided to do this for the simple fact that the three of us wanted to showcase our work. It was finally time to collaborate and get it done! Since last semester Sean, Theo, and I have taken at least one day out of the week to hang out and frame up the street. We now have a day and place to show our work to the public. I know it's at Theo's apartment, but hey... we're makin' it happen.

In-between editing and blogging I ate and played video games. Nothing special. I wanted to stay home today. This whole week has been crazy.

Matt and Rob Exhibition Show

I shot these back in January at Matt and Rob's exhibition "Here not There." It was more of a party than anything, but it was pretty cool. It took me this long to post these since they were shot on film. Damn.. I miss my Canon QL17.

It was last minute that Michael Behlen decided to come up to the Bay and hang out for awhile. He had a few days off from work (and his work forced him to take a 5 day vacation) and wanted to meet up for some shoot. I had only the morning to hang out before I heading out to school. So we started out around 9 in the morning and ended around 11:30. Man... was that fun! Mike.. we gotta do that again!
